The Indian cricket team management’s appreciation medal for the best field of the match has gained a lot of recognition and appreciation from the fans to honour the cricketers for their performances during the ODI World Cup 2023. The trend of giving the fielding medal began with the Indian team’s fielding coach Dilip during the ODI World Cup 2023 after each match.
The team management has decided to continue with the appreciative medal and from now on it will be provided after every series. The first best Fielder medal was bagged by the team’s reliable pacer Mohammed Siraj after the conclusion of the T20 series of India’s tour of South Africa.
“We often talk about making a difference in the field. Not just in one match, but throughout the series. And the perseverance at which he worked throughout the World Cup and the still the way, after he bowls an over, comes back, dives and throws the ball back. Today he made a difference with his direct hit, yesterday, boundary line awareness catch. The winner would be none other than – Mohammed Siraj,” Dilip said in the dressing room.
“Should I say something? This is not a medal… I have been waiting for this medal since the World Cup and I have finally got it. The lesson to take away from here is – never give up,” the pacer said while accepting the medal.
Suryakumar Yadav on India winning the third T20 against South Africa
In the post-match ceremony, India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav said, “I am good. I am walking, so good. Always a good feeling. When it comes in a winning cause, it makes me happier. We wanted to play some fearless brand of cricket. The idea was to bat first, put some runs on the board and defend. The boys work day in and day out. Happy that they showed some character.”
While talking about Kuldeep Yadav‘s exceptional performance he said, “He (Kuldeep Yadav) is never happy. He is always hungry. It is a nice self-gift on his birthday. I mean it is important to know your game. I just go out there and enjoy myself. The balance is important.”
