Australia made a winning start to their short tour of South Africa by winning the T20 series on Friday. Australia won the 2nd T20 match which was played at Durban by 8 wickets. The architect of the win was Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh who was the star with the bat.

Australia had won the 1st game by at the same venue by a huge 111-run margin to take a 1-0 lead. Mitchell Marsh had shone with the bat with a brilliant 92 not out. Tanveer Sangha then picked four wickets with the ball on his debut. Australia won the toss and chose to bowl first. There were two changes for the visiting side as Adam Zampa and Jason Behrendorff came into the team. Tanveer Sangha and Spencer Johnson were rested. For the home side, there was one change as Marco Jansen was replaced by Bjorn Fortuin.

Mitchell Marsh continues his blazing form with the bat

31-year-old Mitchell Marsh has been one of the leading players for Australia across formats for Australia. Elevated as the T20I captain for Australia, Mitchell Marsh had scored a career-best 92 off 49 balls in the 1st game. Marsh continued his good with an unbeaten 79 off 39 balls with the help of 8 fours and 6 sixes. The Australian saw his side through an 8-wicket win with over 5 overs to spare as Australia chased the 165-run target with ease.

Put into bat first, South Africa could only score 164 for 8 from their 20 overs. Temba Bavuma gave the home team a blazing start. The right-hander scored 35 off 17 balls with 6 fours and a six. Bavuma and Hendricks added 36 for the 1st wicket in just 3 overs before Sean Abbott broke the partnership.

Hendricks was out for 3 followed by Van Der Dussen for 6. The top scorer for South Africa was captain Aiden Markram who scored 49. Dewald Brevis had another forgettable outing as he was out for a 1st ball duck. Tristan Stubbs then scored 27 off 20 balls with 3 fours and 1 six. Sean Abbott and Nathan Ellis picked 3 wickets each, while Behrendorff picked 2 wickets.

Chasing 165 to win, Australia lost Travis Head early for 18, Matthew Short and Mitchell Marsh then joined forces. The pair added 100 runs for the 2nd wicket which came in 45 balls. Short was out for 66 off 30 balls with 7 fours and 4 sixes as Australian ran out winner with 8 wickets and 31 balls to spare.
