‘What difficulty do you have in playing…?’ – R Ashwin’s stunning reaction to fan comment on workload management
India are bracing for the four-match Test series against Australia slated on February 9 and the teams are giving it their all in the nets ahead of the much-anticipated series. With the return of veterans like Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, it remains to be seen if the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team would retain the trophy against the Baggy Greens who are leaving no stone unturned to prepare for the series.
That being said, veteran Ashwin opened up on a YouTube comment for a video that he uploaded about ‘Workload Management’. The off-spinner clarified that it was a comment from an aspiring doctor who claimed that he used to play without slippers during his days and that not to complain or whine about the same, as Ashwin revealed that the one who commented was a doctor as well.
“One of the guys commented, ‘What workload, dude? In our days, we played non-stop anywhere and everywhere without wearing slippers too. So, what difficulty do you have in playing? Stop complaining’. This was his comment, and he was a doctor as well. I don’t know if he is a real doctor or an aspiring one,” Ashwin was quoted as saying in the video.
The level of intensity won’t be the same: Ravichandran Ashwin
Ashwin expressed his displeasure over the comment and claimed that it would be easy to comment when not playing the sport, as he went on to clarify that he had not intentions of commenting against those who sit in front of the computer and work for days. The Indian star spinner was happy to admit that it would be difficult for him to sit in front of computer than to play under hot sun.
“The level of intensity won’t be the same. People who work five days a week and play during the weekend will wonder how good it will be if they play for all seven days. However, many of you may have experienced pain in hand and leg while playing. I am not stressing about the pain. Every player will have pain, but it is their profession,” Ashwin was quoted as saying.
“Even I can say that we are playing under the hot sun and people who work sitting in front of a computer are blessed. But no, I have also studied in front of a computer and, even now, on some days, I get the requirement to sit and work in front of the computer. For me, sitting in front of a computer will be even more tiring than playing under the hot sun,” he added.
