What is Boxing Day Test match? Know it’s relevance

Australia and Pakistan are locking horns for the second test match of Pakistan tour of Australia 2023. A boxing day test match has a huge relevance in the sports field but has nothing to do with the actual boxing. Whenever two teams meet for a match on the next day of Christmas, it is called the Boxing Day match.

The game has a huge relevance in Australia and South Africa. This time both the teams will meet for the boxing day test match as Australia will take on Pakistan while South Africa will take on India in Centurion. Some experts believe Boxing Day is related to the Christmas box which the Churches keep on the day for the collection of donations.

The Australian Skipper Pat Cummins talked about the Boxing Day test match and said, “We’re a huge fan of Scotty, I don’t think that’s a secret. He’s ready to go if anything happens, so I’m sure he’ll play a part at some point. The message (to Boland) is always ‘we love what you bring, unfortunately, you miss out on this one but don’t change, keep working hard and make sure you stay ready’.”

“I think there will be plenty of time to finish the game. I don’t think (the weather) will change anything. The wicket looks pretty good. A fair bit of grass, probably a little bit harder and not as green as last year”, he added.
