Dewald Brevis has been one of the most impressive youngsters in the Indian T20 league 2022. Several pundits and experts have gone on to speak very highly of his talent. It is safe to say that he has been one of the few positives for Mumbai in their first six games of this edition.

Brevis has scored 117 runs in his first four games of the cash-rich league. This includes a whopping strike rate of 172.06. Some of his audacious shots have come against top-class bowlers as well. The 26th match of the 2022 edition saw Brevis play a sensational cameo. He scored a 13-ball 31, and played some eye-pleasing shots. His knock included six boundaries and a maximum.

Even the star all-rounder Ben Stokes was impressed with the youngster. He took to Twitter to appreciate his skills. The fact that an absolute champion like Stokes praised Brevis speaks volumes of the South African’s potential.

“Brevis=Player” read the Tweet of Ben Stokes. However, the 18-year-old was dismissed right after the star all-rounder’s Tweet popped up. As he jinxed Brevis, Stokes added another Tweet where he apologised to the Proteas batter. The difference between his Tweet praising Brevis and the Tweet where he apologized to him was barely six minutes.

“Sorry Brevis 🤦‍♂️” read his second Tweet. Thus, it didn’t take too long for it to go viral. As far as the game is concerned, Mumbai went on to lose the game by 18 runs. This is their sixth consecutive loss in the Indian T20 league 2022. Thus, the Rohit Sharma-led side are currently languishing at the bottom of the points table.

Earlier in the game, it was KL Rahul who stole the show as he scored a brilliant century. It was his third hundred in the cash-rich league. An important point to be noted is that this was also his 100th Indian T20 league game. Hence, he also became the first player to score a hundred in his 100th Indian T20 league game.
