Will Sourav Ganguly step down as BCCI president? The legend answers
Sourav Ganguly is seated on the chair of BCCI president’s chair since October 2019. He still has four months left in his tenure at the post. But his Tweet yesterday took the Indian cricketing fraternity by storm. The Tweet seemed like a farewell message on his part.
But the speculations were rested to bed by the Secretary of the BCCI, Jay Shah. Quoting him from ANI, – “The rumors doing roundabout Mr. Sourav Ganguly stepping down from the post of BCCI President are factually incorrect. We have some exciting times in the firm of media rights coming up and my colleagues and I are completely focused on the upcoming opportunity and safeguarding the interest of Indian cricket.”
The speculations started when Sourav Ganguly Tweeted- “2022 marks the 30th year since the start of my journey with cricket in 1992. Since then, Cricket has given men a lot. Most importantly, it has given me the support of all of you. I want to thank every single person who has been a part of the journey, supported me, and helped me reach where I am today. Today, I am planning to start something that I feel will probably help a lot of people. I hope you continue your support as I enter this chapter of my life.”

After speculations of Ganguly resigning from the post, it turned out that he was talking about his new business venture. He has git associated with a new educational app. This app will be available in English, Hindi, Bengali, and many other regional languages. But another educational app BYJU’s being the shirt sponsor of the Indian national team, it will be interesting to see how that deal turns out given Ganguly’s new involvement.
Sourav Ganguly is considered an able administrator by the fans and experts from his time as the captain of the Indian team. Under his leadership, a lot has transpired in Indian cricket. He has tried to involve more cricketing personalities in the governing body of Indian cricket. The fans and supporters of Indian cricket will certainly hope that he continues till the end of his tenure and beyond.
