‘WORLD RECORD BROKEN’ – Twitterati hilariously react to Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s 208 kmph delivery against Ireland

India played the first T20I match of the series against Ireland in Dublin on 26 June 2022. Hardik Pandya-led Indian side went on to win this match easily as they thrashed the Irish side by seven wickets. It was a clinical performance from the team and the new pace sensation, Umran Malik also got the taste of international cricket for the first time. Even though, he went for 14 runs in the only over he bowled in the match.

Speaking about the match, Hardik won the toss and elected to bowl first. Rain threatened the match and finally, after some delay, it started with 12 overs for each side. After being asked to bat first, the Irish batters did not have a good start as they lost two wickets for six runs only. Both Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Hardik Pandya grabbed one wicket each. However, it was Harry Tector who played a gem of an unbeaten knock of 64 runs off 33 balls. He ensured that Ireland put up a score of 108 runs in 12 overs.

In reply, It was quite surprising to see Deepak Hooda who came to open the innings with Ishan Kishan. However, they played well as India was on 30 in just 2.3 overs. Then, two major setbacks in consecutive deliveries gave some hope to Ireland. Suryakumar Yadav had a forgettable comeback to the side as he got out for a golden duck. But, Deepak Hooda’s 47* made sure that Indians chased down the target in just 9.2 overs. Yuzvendra Chahal was the player of the match for grabbing one wicket by conceding 11 runs in three overs.

However, an interesting thing happened during the first over of the match when Bhuvneshwar Kumar started the proceedings. For the very first two balls of the match, the speedometer showed 201 and 208 kmph as the speed of those deliveries respectively. Twitter users found it very funny as they took on their accounts to share views on it.
