During the second half, the visitors kept the ball with them most of the time and had a chance of a free kick in the 53rd minute, but Adrian Luna missed the chance by kicking the in the air. Around an hour mark, Bengaluru’s Suresh Wangjam’s effort from outside flew through traffic.

In the 83rd minute, Kerala’s Dimitrios Diamantakos registered the first shot on target, but his header was not so hard for Sandhu to claim as the game went to extra time. One minute into the extra time, Rahul KP from the Blasters tried a shot that was flicked by his teammate Luna and went inches wide at the far post.

Chhetri scored the controversial goal in the seventh minute before the Blasters decided to leave the field. Bengaluru will now take on Mumbai City FC in a two-legged semi-final on March 7 and 12 starting with an away trip.
