‘Ye IyerBall innings thi’ – Fans divided after Shreyas Iyer counter attacks Australia on tough Indore pitch
India batter Shreyas Iyer changed the tempo of the team’s ongoing second innings in the third Test against Australia. He came out to bat after Ravindra Jadeja was trapped lbw by Nathan Lyon. Initially, the former was given out but the ball tracker showed that Jadeja was hit on the pads in front of the stumps. Meanwhile, at the time of the left-hander’s wicket, the team was trailing by 10 runs.
The home team needed a big partnership and the scoreboard to move on a deteriorating wicket. Even though Iyer didn’t play long innings, he might have added some valuable runs in the game. The right-hander scored 26 off just 27 balls including three fours and two sixes. He decided to attack the spinners who were dominating the innings.
However, when he looked like playing an impactful inning, he was caught at midwicket by Usman Khawaja. Iyer played a flick shot against Mitchell Starc but failed to keep it down. Watching this, Khawaja dove towards his left and plucked the ball in the air. Meanwhile, the fans are divided on Iyer’s innings. Some feel that he might have batted longer while some feel this might play a massive role in the game.

Shreyas Iyer ruining beauty of Test cricket. Don't make hard earned runs of Pujara look easy.

But of what use? Should have controlled his instinct against the pacer and attacked only spinners

Cheteshwar Pujara becomes the second half-centurion in the game
Meanwhile, at the time of writing, India’s number three batter, Pujara has scored his half-century. Apart from him, no India batter has been able to hit a fifty in the ongoing game. Before him, Khawaja scored a fifty on the first day of the game. The wicket has been challenging for the batters as it has been observed that one wicket brings a collapse. Meanwhile, at the time of writing, Oujara is batting on 50 and the team is leading the game by 45 runs. The team would need at least 100-150 more runs to remain in the game.
