Lucknow Super Giants registered a thrilling last-ball victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore by 1 wicket at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium in the Indian Premier League 2023. LSG chased the target of 213 runs on the last ball of the innings to win the match in the most dramatic manner.

However, after the match, star RCB batter Virat Kohli and mentor of LSG, Gautam Gambhir shared a hug in the dressing room. Both Kohli and Gambhir shared some conversations after the match. LSG posted the pic on their social media with the caption ‘Ye IPL hai mere yaar, bas ishq mohabbat pyaar.’

Batting first, RCB posted a big total of 212 runs for the loss of 2 wickets, powered by consecutive half-centuries by Kohli, Faf du Plessis, and Glenn Maxwell. Skipper Du Plessis and Kohli gave a firing start to RCB, adding 96 runs for the first wicket. Kohli got out after scoring 61 off 44, while Du Plessis remained unbeaten on 79 off 46 adding 115 runs with Maxwell (59 off 29) for the second wicket.

Nicolas Pooran scored the fastest half-century of the season

Chasing the winning total, LSG lost 3 wickets for 23 runs, after that, Marcus Stoinis took charge and got out after scoring 65 off 30. After Stoinis’ wicket, Nicolas Pooran went on to score the second-fastest half-century (in 15 balls) in IPL history as LSG went closer to the target. The match went down to the ball of the last over with LSG requiring 1 run with 1 wicket in hand. Avesh Khan missed the yorker by Harshal Patel that went to the keeper Dinesh Karthik, who failed to collect and throw the ball in time as LSG registered one of the most thrilling victories in the tournament.

“This is the Chinnaswamy, only venue where so many last-ball finishes are possible. From the position we were in, to end up winning it is superb. We had to go hard and the ball swung early, and they got 2-3 wickets to put the pressure on us. The only reason we got two points today is for the way the lower order batted,” said LSG skipper KL Rahul at the post-match presentation.
