Rahul Dravid says he has not yet signed the extension of contract to coach India. On X, the Indian Cricket Board announced that Dravid and other coaching staff would continue with their roles till the end of the T20 World Cup 2024. When asked about the same, Dravid said that he has not yet received any papers from the Indian cricket board to sign the contract of extension of their roles.

On the 29th of November, the Indian Cricket Board wrote “NEWS – Indian Cricket Board announces extension of contracts for Head Coach and Support Staff, Team India (Senior Men),” and confirmed that India would be continuing with the same coaching staff that helped India to reaching the final of the ODI World Cup 2023. The announcement from the board referred to the extension of the contract till the end of the T20 World Cup 2024. 

According to the statement of the Indian Cricket Board, the likes of Rahul Dravid, Vikram Rathour, T Dilip, and Paras Mhambrey are likely to continue as the Head coach, Batting Coach, Fielding Coach, and Bowling coach of the Indian side respectively. But Dravid claimed that the official confirmation for the same from his side cannot be provided yet.

“I haven’t signed anything yet, let the papers come from the Indian Cricket Board,” said Dravid when asked if he would continue as the Indian coach till the end of the T20 World Cup 2024. It created confusion among the fans, as they do not know if the official confirmation of the extension of the contract has happened or is yet to happen. Fans criticized the Indian Cricket Board for the lack of clarity in the regard.

India is set to play an all-format tour in South Africa. The squad for all the three formats of the tour is set to be announced at any moment. On the 6th of December, the Indian players will leave for South Africa. Before the exact date, India must finalize the extension of the contract with the existing coaches.
