India’s opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has been in great form in the ongoing five-match Test series against England. Before this, he did well in the T20I format and did decently in the previous Tests before. In the first Test, he scored almost a run-a-ball 80 but failed to get his first hundred at home. The former India U19 scored his maiden Test in the West Indies last year when he made his debut.

Meanwhile, in the first Test last week, Jaiswal and other batters were guilty of giving away their wickets in the first innings after coming close to their respective hundreds. However, in the ongoing second Test in Vizag, the home team won the toss and elected to bat first. The team had a decent start before skipper Rohit Sharma (14) became debutant Shoaib Bashir’s maiden Test wicket.

On the other hand, Shubman Gill (34) was going before becoming the first wicket of James Anderson this year. Meanwhile, at the time of writing, Jaiswal has managed to hit his second Test hundred at home with a six against last-match hero, Tom Hartley. At the time of writing, the left-hander is batting on 104 and the team has amassed 175/2 in 49.5 overs.

Yashavi Jaiswal hit his maiden Test hundred at home

The Mumbaikar made his debut right after India lost the World Test Championship 2023 final to Australia as the Asian side played two Tests in the West Indies. Cheteshwar Pujara was dropped from the team and Shubman Gill was asked to bat at number three to give a chance to Jaiswal. In the first Test in Dominica, the Rajasthan Royals player made his debut and scored 170-odd in the game. Since then, he played one more game in the Caribbean and two more in South Africa.

In his first Test series at home, Jaiswal has hit his maiden hundred and looks to add more to his tally. At the time of writing, he has hit 11 fours and three sixes.
