‘You left it better than you found it’ – Twitter reacts after Ross Taylor makes his final appearance in international cricket
On April 2, Ross Taylor made his final appearance in international cricket. His last appearance came against the Netherlands in an ODI game. The Kiwis clean swept the visitors in the three-match series. Taylor had announced earlier that the now-concluded home season would be his last for his country.
In his Test and First-Class career, the 38-year-old played 112 Tests and 192 FC games. He amassed 7683 runs in Tests, while scoring 12,369 runs in FC cricket from 2002 to 2022. Looking at his ODI career, he played 236 ODIs and 312 List A games in the same period. In ODIs, he accumulated 8607 runs while scoring 11356 runs in List A.
Diving into his T20 career, he played 292 domestic and franchise league games and played 102 T20Is from 2006 to 2020. In 102 games, he scored 1909 runs while scoring 6429 runs in 292 games. He scored 19 and 27 hundreds in Tests and FC cricket respectively. In the 50-over format, he has 21 ODI and 27 List A hundreds to his name. In T20 cricket, he has only one hundred to his name.
Taylor, who was part of the team that won the inaugural Test championship, made his Test debut against South Africa in 2007 in Johannesburg. Before making his debut in the longest format, he made his ODI and T20I debut in 2006. In March 2006, he made his ODI debut against the West Indies in Napier. He made his T20I debut against Sri Lanka and his career in the format ended with a game against the West Indies in December 2020. Notably, his ODI and Test career ended with a match-winning catch. Earlier this year, he took the game ending catch against Bangladesh. In his last ODI, he took the last catch of the game.

Ross Taylor is the only player in the world who has played 100 matches in all three international formats – Test, ODI and T20I. He retires today ranked number three in ODIs, behind only Virat Kohli and Babar Azam. #ThanksRosco
