Team India is currently participating in the Asia Cup 2023, which is taking place in Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The first match of the campaign against Pakistan resulted in a draw as the match was called off due to rain after the completion of the first innings. India’s second fixture of the group stage is against Nepal on Monday, September 4, at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy, Sri Lanka.

Star India bowler, Yuzvendra Chahal was dropped from the Indian squad for the ongoing 16th edition of the Asia Cup. Chahal’s exclusion from the squad left the fans and former cricketers confused.  The leg-spinner, after being dropped from the squad, visited the Bageshwar Dham Sarkar temple in Madhya Pradesh.

India’s top order fails against Pakistan in Asia Cup 2023

Chahal shared a cryptic post on social media after being dropped from the squad for the tournament. He wrote a tweet with a “Sunrise” emoji. This tweet showed his disappointment and determination to rise again. The 33-year-old had an average season in the T20Is as he has snapped nine wickets in the same number of matches he played for the Men in Blue in 2023 so far.

If we talk about India’s first match of Asia Cup 2023 against the Men in Green, India was bundled out for 266 runs. The highest scorer for the side was their star all-rounder, Hardik Pandya, who scored 87 runs off 90 balls, with seven fours and a six in his innings. The wicketkeeper-batter, Ishan Kishan also scored crucial 82 runs from 81 balls, which included nine fours and two sixes in his innings.

Players like Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and Shubman Gill failed to deliver as they all were dismissed cheaply by the bowlers of Men in Green. Kohli was able to score only four runs off seven balls, whereas, on the other hand, Iyer was able to score only 14 runs off nine balls, which included two fours in his innings. Gill scored just 10 runs from 32 balls he faced in his innings, where he slammed only one four.
