 ‘Unbelievable’- fans go crazy as Moeen Ali scores the fastest fifty for Chennai in the Indian T20 League

English cricketer, Moeen Ali wreaked havoc with the bat for Chennai in the ongoing game against Rajasthan on Friday at Brabourne Stadium. He scored the fastest fifty for Chennai in the history of the Indian T20 League, achieving the feat in just 19 balls. Earlier, MS Dhoni won the toss and opted to bat first.

Chennai didn’t make a great start to their innings as Ruturaj Gaikwad got out on the last ball of the very first over. Coming in at number three, Moeen Ali didn’t make any runs in his first four balls and Chennai had scored 15 runs in the first 3 overs.

However, Moeen Ali then changed the momentum as he smashed Prasidh Krishna for 3 fours and 1 six in the 4th over. In the next over, he hammered Ravichandra Ashwin for 3 consecutive fours and 4 fours in a row to Trent Boult in the 6th over. Thanks to Moeen Ali’s sensational ball-striking, Chennai had scored 75 runs at the end of the power play. Moeen Ali scored his fifty in just 19 deliveries- the second fastest fifty this season.

The English cricketer kept scoring boundaries all around the ground. Ali didn’t try to overhit and only played cricketing shots. Chennai, however, lost wickets at short intervals after power play. Devon Conway (16 off 14) and N Jagadeesan (1 off 4) went back to the hut 8th and 9th over and Ambati also followed them in the 11th over.

Regular wickets after the powerplay didn’t help as Chennai lost the plot after the power play. However, Moeen Ali is still at the crease and he needs to stay till the end if Chennai ought to post a big score on the board.

At the time of writing, Chennai are at 108 for 4 after 13 overs. Moeen Ali and MS Dhoni are unbeaten on 76(37) and 6(11) respectively.
