‘3 Match Khelta hai 30 match Injury mein miss karta hai!!!’ – Shreyas Iyer ruled out of ongoing Ahmedabad Test due to back injury

Indian batter Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the ongoing fourth Test between India and Australia due to a lower back injury. He also did not come to bat for India in the second innings as he was gone for the scans. The 28-year-old missed the first Test of the series in Nagpur but was a part of the playing XI in the next two matches in Delhi and Indore respectively.

Iyer also fielded in the first inning of the fourth Test. The Indian Cricket board also confirmed that he has been taken for the scans Day 3 of the Ahmedabad Test. “Shreyas Iyer complained of pain in his lower back following the third day’s play. He has gone for scans and the Indian Cricket Board Medical Team is monitoring him,” said the Indian Cricket Board in a statement.

Virat Kohli scored his 75th century

Talking about the match, India finished their first inning on 571 taking a lead of lead 91 runs against the Aussies. The main highlight of day four was the 28th Test hundred by Virat Kohli who reached the triple figure in red-ball cricket after 1205 days. The 34-year-old scored 186 runs off 364 balls hitting 15 boundaries.

Kohli was accompanied by Axar Patel with whom he put up a partnership of 162 runs for the sixth wicket. Axar scored his third half-century of the series as he got out after scoring 79 runs off 113 with five fours and four sixes. Earlier, young batter Shubman Gill scored his second Test hundred on day three. Gill scored 128 runs off 235 balls and laid the foundation for a big total. Nathan Lyon and Todd Murphy took 3-3 wickets for Australia, while Matthew Kuhnemann and Mitchell Starc shared a wicket each.

Australia scored 480 runs ni their first inning powered by the centuries of Usman Khawaja (180 off 422) and Cameron Green (114 off 170). The visitors have lost the first wicket so far in their second inning as Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed Kuhnemann for six runs on day five.
