3 Players Gujarat might release ahead of Indian T20 League 2022
The Indian T20 League 2022 has come to conclusion with the debutants of the tournament, Gujarat emerging as winners of the tournament. Gujarat was more or less clinical throughout the tournament dominating their opposition in all aspects of the game. But there were a few issues that were noticeable in some of the matches during the tournament. Gujarat will look the repair the holes in the team and in the process, they might release a few of their players in the team. As Hardik Pandya’s men will look to defend the title in the next season, here is a list of a few players Gujarat might release ahead of the Indian T20 League 2022.
1. Matthew Wade: Matthew Wade’s heroics in the semi-final of the 2021 T20 World Cup brought him into the limelight. His dramatic performance in the match against Pakistan prompted Gujarat to buy him for a price of INR 2.4 Cr.
Gujarat used Wade as the first option of Wicket-keeper batter in the initial stages of the tournament. But he failed to give his team good starts and thus lost his place in the tournament to Wriddhiman Saha. Saha’s brilliant exploits with the bat mean that Wade lost the opening spot to him. He was however reinstated in the playing eleven and played at number three. At the end of the tournament, Wade finished with 157 runs from the 10 matches that he played. Gujarat might look to replace him with a better top-order batter.
