“404 Error, Replacement Not Found😌” – Fans React As Indian Cricket Board Fails To Find A Replacement For Skipper Virat Kohli

Since Virat Kohli left the captaincy role in all three formats for India, the Indian Cricket Board considered Rohit Sharma as the next skipper for all the formats. After last year’s horrible T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli resigned captaincy duties from the shortest format of the game. Then, he was asked to leave the ODI format captaincy also. After the series against the Proteas at their home, Kohli also resigned captaincy responsibilities from Tests.

Since then Rohit Sharma was appointed as the captain. But, things did not go as per plan for Rohit or the Board as Rohit Sharma missed several matches due to injury concerns. It has been found that after Kohli, six different players were appointed as captains across three formats. These players are Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ajinkya Rahane.

This instance clearly shows that the Indian Cricket Board is not able to find out a proper all-format captain after Kohli. Even, when Rohit got ruled out from the ongoing fifth rescheduled Test match, fans got together to vote for Kohli for leading this match. However, captaincy responsibilities got shifted to Jasprit Bumrah.

Apart from just captaincy abilities, his fitness level was another factor that makes him different from others. Irrespective of playing in all three formats, Virat managed to keep his fitness level at the top and he just missed four games in his career due to injury so far. This feature always impressed his fans as he brought some significant changes in the Test cricket culture of India.

During his tenure, India was the number one side for five consecutive years whether playing at home or abroad. His numbers suggest that he is the best-ever Test captain in the history of Indian Test cricket history.
