Virat Kohli was a revelation for Indian Cricket as a red-ball captain. India was the number one side in the longest format of the game for consecutive five years under the captaincy of Kohli. He played his last Test match as the skipper of India while India experienced a 2-1 defeat to South Africa.

But, since his departure as the captain, India faced a drawback for remaining at the top of the table in this format. Recently, India also lost the fifth rescheduled Test match against England, and thus, India is currently sitting in the second position behind Australia. Australia is at the top with 123 rating points in 22 matches while India has only 114 rating points in 29 matches.
