5 Huge Records Created By Novak Djokovic After His Wimbledon Victory Over Nick Kyrgios
On July 10, 2022, the stage was set for Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios as they clashed in the Wimbledon Final. After two hard-fought wins in the quarters and semi-finals, Djokovic earned his berth in the final while Nick Kyrgios got the opportunity as his semi-final opponent, Rafael Nadal pulled out himself from the tournament due to health issues. Interestingly, before this match, Djokovic met Kyrgios twice in his career and lost both times. Hence, fans were eager to see them both in action for this major Grand Slam title.
However, this time Djokovic made no mistake as he came out victorious with a score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (3). Kyrgios surprised everyone when he defeated Novak in the first set. After winning this Grand Slam title, Novak surpassed Roger Federer in terms of the number of Grand Slams in his career. It was his 21st Grand Slam while Federer has 20 Grand Slams in his bag so far. Only Rafael Nadal has more (22) Grand Slam titles now, ahead of Djokovic.
Now, Djokovic has seven Wimbledon titles, nine Australian Open titles, two Rolland Garros titles, and three US Open titles. He has a win-loss record of 334-47 at Grand Slams so far.
