This unfortunate incident happened when India played the first ODI match against England at the Oval on 12 July 2022. England got bundled out for 110 runs only. In reply, both Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan were not out as they chased down the target easily.
But, the Indian skipper’s one-six hit a young girl who was in the stands. David Willey was bowling and a short ball came to Rohit which he pulled to the leg side. It hit her and England physios rushed to her for medical attention. However, no major injuries were found there and after the match, Rohit Sharma also made a visit to her to check on the girl.
