In the previous edition of the Indian T20 League, Venkatesh Iyer was a revolution for his Kolkata franchise. He batted brilliantly at the top to take his franchise to the final of that edition. But, since then, he had completely lost his touch.
He was also given the chance to perform for India where he was seen playing as a finisher while batting down the order. In this year’s Indian T20 League, he scored only 182 runs in 12 matches at an average of 16.54. Still, he got this opportunity in Ireland. But, he is almost certain to miss the flight to Australia later this year as Hardik Pandya, and Dinesh Karthik are back in form.
