Before the announcement of the final squad for the 20-20 World Cup, several reports were there that India might drop Rishabh Pant. Instead of him, they can go with Sanju Samson along with veteran wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik. In recent times, Pant delivered performances in the Test and ODI formats.
But, in T20Is, he failed to replicate that performance. On the other hand, Sanju Samson scored some valuable runs when he got opportunities for India. Therefore, fans were hoping to see him in the squad. But, selectors went with Pant and Karthik only for the World Cup. They did not even consider Sanju as one of the backups also.
