This pacer missed cricket for a long time due to injuries. However, Deepak Chahar made a comeback to the Indian team during the three-match ODI series in Zimbabwe. He did well as he picked up some wickets in that series. But, still, for Asia Cup, he was only a backup for that available bowling unit.
After India’s dismal show in Asia Cup, especially with the ball, people were expecting that Deepak Chahar should get a call for the final squad. But, selectors again considered him as one of the four backups only. As Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel made a comeback to the team, he failed to manage a place for the 20-20 World Cup.
