On 29 July 2022, India won the five-match T20I series opener against West Indies by 68 runs. However, Rohit Sharma and India coach, Rahul Dravid came up with some surprising decisions in the match. That did not please former India great, Krishnamachari Srikkanth as he got furious.

In the first match of the series, Rohit Sharma announced at the Toss that Shreyas Iyer was added to the playing XI ahead of Deepak Hooda. Kris Srikkanth was furious hearing that decision as he wanted the in-form and versatile Hooda in the line-up than Shreyas. But, former cricketer, Pragyan Ojha came in support of Rahul Dravid’s selection process. Then, Srikkanth slammed Ojha with a bold reply.

“Rahul Dravid ka soch humko nehi chaiye. Aapka soch chaiye. (We don’t want Rahul Dravid’s thinking. I want your thoughts.”) – Kris Srikkanth

During his conversation with Fan Code, Kris Srikkanth said that he is surprised by not seeing Deepak Hooda in the lineup despite good performances. He said: “Where is Hooda? He did well in T20Is, He did well in ODIs as well. He is the guy who should be there. In T20 cricket you need to understand, that you need all-rounders. Batting all-rounders, bowling all-rounders, so more the all-rounders better for you,”

Former cricketer, Pragyan Ojha was also part of that panel. However, he came in support of Rahul Dravid. He said: “Rahul Bhai believes that if a player performed for you first then play him and back him. Then you go ahead with the other options,” But, Srikkanth immediately stopped him and said: “Rahul Dravid ka soch humko nehi chaiye. Aapka soch chaiye. Abhi chaiye. Abhi do.” (“We don’t want Rahul Dravid’s thinking. I want your thoughts. Want it now just give.”)

Then, Ojha smiled and said: “Hooda toh hona chaiye. Obviously Hooda.” (“Huda toh should be. Obviously Hooda.”) In reply, Srikkanth said: “Bas. Khatam,” (“Enough. Finish”). However, Shreyas Iyer failed to grab the opportunity as he failed to open his account even after playing four balls.
