Commonwealth Games 2022, Day 7: Results of India’s Events
Day 6 was exciting for India as they bagged five medals to their tally. However, on Day 7, Indian athletes were in full action across different events. They did not disappoint the country as more medals got added. Now, India has grabbed a total number of 20 medals (6 Gold, 7 Silver, 7 Bronze). Speaking of the performances on Day 7, Sreeshankar clinched a historic silver in Long Jump.
Apart from him, Sudhir won a historic gold in men’s para powerlifting. On the other hand, boxers have confirmed medals for India by qualifying for the semis. In other sports like badminton and squash, most of the players have qualified for the next rounds. Even, the Indian men’s Hockey team has also qualified for the semis after winning on Day 7 of Commonwealth Games 2022.

Para Powerlifting
In Men’s Heavyweight Final, Sudhir won a gold medal by creating a Games Record (134.5).
Athletics
In the Women’s Hammer Throw Qualifying round, Manju Bala qualified (59.68m). But, Sarita Romit Singh failed (57.48m) to do so. Hima Das came first (23.42s) in Women’s 200m Heat 2. Meanwhile, in Men’s Long Jump Final, Murali Sreeshankar created history by winning a silver medal (8.08m). But, Muhammed Anees Yahiya finished 5th (7.79m).

Table Tennis
Shetty Sanil/Tennison Reeth lost (2-3) to Wong Qi Shen/Tee Ai Xin in the Mixed Doubles Round of 64. However, In the Mixed Doubles Round of 32, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran/Manika Batra won. Apart from them, Achanta Sharath Kamal/Akula Sreeja won their matches.
Along with it, in the Women’s Singles Round of 32, Reeth Tennison, Sreeja Akula, and Manika Batra won matches. In the Men’s Doubles Round of 32, Desai Harmeet/Shetty Sanil won. Meanwhile, Achanta Sharath Kamal/Sathiyan Gnanasekaran came out victorious.
Para Table Tennis
In Women’s Singles, Bhavina Hasmukhbhai Patel (3-0) and Sonalben Patel (3-1) won their matches. While Baby Sahana Ravi lost (0-3) to Australia’s Qian Yang. In Men’s Singles, Raj Aravindan Alagar defeated England’s Dan Bullen (3-1).
Boxing
Amit Panghal, Jaismine Lamboria, Sagar Ahlawat, and Rohit Tokas won their matches in their respective categories. Even, all of them have assured a medal in this year’s Commonwealth Games by winning the quarterfinals on Day 7.
Badminton
In Women’s Singles, P.V. Sindhu (2-0) and Akarshi Kashyap (1-0) won their matches. While, in Men’s Singles, Kidambi Srikant (2-0) and Lakshya Sen (2-0) won also. However, in Mixed Doubles, Ashwini Ponnappa/B. Sumeeth Reddy lost (0-2).
Squash
Sunayna Sara Kuruvilla/Anahat Singh lost after two rounds in the Women’s Doubles. However, Chinappa Joshana/Pallikal Karthik Dipika qualifies for the next round.
In Mixed Doubles, Chinappa Joshana/Sandhu Harinder and Pallikal Karthik Dipika/Ghosal Sourav qualified for the next round. Senthil Kumar Velavan/Abhay Singh also won in Men’s Doubles.
Hockey
Indian men’s team qualified for the semi-finals after defeating Wales (4-1).
Lawn Bowls
In Men’s Singles, Mridul Borgohain defeated Jersey’s Ross Davis (21-13).
Gymnastics
Bavleen Kaur came 8th (18.100) in the Qualification round.
