Gautam Gambhir Suggests Suryakumar Yadav Ahead Of Virat Kohli In The T20 World Cup 2022
On 31 August 2022, India played their second match of this year’s Asia Cup against Hong Kong. However, they won the match by 40 runs and sealed their berth in the super four. Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten fifty. But, Suryakumar Yadav overshadowed his innings with his 68* run knock-off 26 balls only.
However, during the match, Virat Kohli came out to bat at the number three position. While Yadav came out to bat at number four. Even, during their innings, a poll was going there regarding who will be the more perfect batter to bat at number three for India. However, the former India skipper received 70% of the votes from fans. But, Gautam Gambhir shared his opinion after the match.
“Don’t fiddle with someone’s form, just because you want someone else to get back in form” – Gautam Gambhir on Suryakumar Yadav’s batting position
While speaking after the match, Gautam Gambhir said that Suryakumar Yadav is having top form. So, it is better to play him ahead of out-of-form Kohli. He said: “See, I have a reason behind it. The reason is that you don’t fiddle with someone’s form, just because you want someone else to get back in form. He was unbelievable in England when everyone struggled. He was brilliant in the West Indies as well. He’s 30 as well. He is not like 21, 22.”
He also added that Virat can bat at number four of his vast experience. Hence, he suggested team India for trying Yadav at number three till the next T20 World Cup. “He doesn’t have a lot of time on his hands. Make him bat at No.3, make the most of his form, and Virat Kohli, he has got so much experience, he can still come and bat at No.4, depending on the situation as well. I personally feel that Surya should be batting at No.3 from here on till the World Cup and see how the results are going to be” Gambhir concluded.
Speaking about Suryakumar Yadav’s recent form, he smashed a T20I hundred in England. In both the T20I series in England and West Indies, he looked good while others were struggling. Now, he played an outstanding knock of 68* runs off 26 balls, including six fours and six over boundaries.
