Watch: Sanju Samson’s Humbleness and Respect For Team India As An Old Video Goes Viral
On 12 September 2022, India announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming 20-20 World Cup in Australia. After having a dismal Asia Cup campaign, India will look to do well in that event. However, in the last edition of the 20-20 World Cup, they failed to qualify from their group also. Now, selectors announced the team for the World Cup along with four stand-by players.
Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel made a comeback to the team after their injury setbacks. However, there were reports that they can select Sanju Samson ahead of Rishabh Pant. But, they went with Pant only along with the veteran keeper, Dinesh Karthik. Now, an old video is going viral where Sanju Samson was seen talking about his respect for getting any chance to represent his country.
Here is the shared video:
Sanju Samson is going to lead India A in a three-match ODI series against New Zealand A
Speaking of the video, former Indian player, Aakash Chopra posted it on his YouTube Channel. He hosted a program named ‘Baith and bol’ where Sanju Samson and Shreyas Gopal were present. During that interaction, Samson said that he feels privileged to represent the country in whatever opportunities he gets.
Samson said: “there’s a lot of talks going on social that Sanju Samson should replace KL Rahul, Sanju should replace Rishabh Pant. My thinking is very clear, both KL and Pant play for my own team, if I compete with my own teammates then I’m letting my country down”. However, ahead of the 20-20 World Cup, Samson failed to get a place in the final squad.
Even, selectors did not even consider him among the four stand-by players also. But, on 16 September 2022, the Indian Cricket Board announced that Samson will lead the India A side. They will play a three-match ODI series against the New Zealand A side at home conditions. Therefore, it can be another great opportunity for Sanju to showcase his potential to the selectors for getting a chance on the Indian team.
