The game, which was not expected to be close, ended up being a thriller. Thanks to the brave batting by Bangladesh, who came close to completing a historic victory but ultimately lost by five runs.
Batting first, Indian captain Rohit Sharma was out for two runs, but KL Rahul came back just in time, slamming 50 off 32 balls to give the Indian team momentum. Suryakumar Yadav joined the party, hitting 30 off 16 balls, while Virat Kohli maintained his excellent form. In the end, Kohli finished unbeaten on 64 off 44 balls, while Ravichandran Ashwin contributed significantly to India’s total of 184.
Bangladesh came out swinging, with the talented Litton Das smacking balls all over the field, resulting in a fantastic powerplay for the Tigers. The rain stopped play with Bangladesh at 66/0 after seven overs. According to the DLS method, Bangladesh led by 17 runs at the break.
After the rain stopped, Bangladesh was given a new target of 151 in 16 overs. The momentum shifted to India’s side after the match resumed, as Rahul fired in a fantastic throw to run-out Das for 60 off 27. Following that, the Shakib Al Hasan-led team experienced a dramatic collapse.
Taskin Ahmed and Nurul Hasan’s aggressive intent kept Bangladesh in contention. Hasan smashed a six and a four on the second and fourth balls with 20 runs needed off six balls, putting Arshdeep Singh under pressure. However, the pacer remained calm and helped the team win the game.
