Ian Chappell’s prediction video goes viral after Netherlands beats South Africa

Former Australia skipper Ian Chappell is one of the most renowned voices in world cricket. A while back, he decided to quit commentary and now works on an Australian channel. Recently, the former Australia skipper predicted that the Proteas might mess up in the ongoing World Cup citing their history in the World Cups since 1992.
After listening to this, a lot of fans thought the Green Brigade might lose the semis according to Chappell. However, as it turns out, they have shockingly lost to the Netherlands in the last Super 12 game of the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022. This loss has meant that the Temba Bavuma-led side won’t be facing New Zealand in the semis. Now, the winner of ongoing Pakistan vs Bangladesh encounter will face the Kiwis.

After losing to the Dutch, South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma said “Hard one to swallow. We had the confidence and belief in ourselves as a unit to make the playoffs. Unfortunately for us, we couldn’t do it. Winning the toss and bowling, what they got wasn’t ideal. We lost wickets at crucial times. They used the dimensions of the field a lot better than we did.”
South Africa had a good run in the tournament and was considered the dark horse ahead of the tournament. Their first game against Zimbabwe got washed out due to rain. After this, they went on to thrash Bangladesh by a huge margin and beat India in a close game. After earning five points, they needed to win either against Pakistan or Netherlands to go through.
However, as it turned out, they lost against both teams and are now heading back home empty-handed. Notably, Netherlands’ win has also meant that India has now assured of semis qualification. Now, they just need to win the upcoming game against Zimbabwe in Melbourne to top the table of Group Two. If that happens, the 2007 winners will play England in the semifinal.
