World Cricket Governing Council CEO urges team to tour Pakistan for Test cricket

In the ongoing calendar year, Pakistan has hosted Australia and England. Talking about the Aussies, they arrived in the Asian country for the first time since 1998. In the three-match series played between the two teams, fans gathered in huge numbers. Notably, the home side lost the series 1-0 with the first Test in Rawalpindi ending in a dull draw.
On the other hand, the second Test in Karachi had the fans hooked to the game as Pakistan was looking to chase down 506 runs. The game ended in a draw as Pakistan decided to ‘shop-shutting’ in the end overs. Nine months later, the Babar Azam-led host England on their shores. Notably, during the three-match Test series, only Rawalpindi and Multan saw a great turnout of fans in the midst of the team’s loss.
Meanwhile, the World Cricket Governing Council chairperson Geoff Allardice has said more teams must play in Pakistan to promote Test cricket.

The World Cricket Governing Council chairperson explained that Pakistan fans are passionate about the game. He cited the fans’ turnout during the three-match Test series between Pakistan and Australia in March this year. He added that he had a great experience traveling in Pakistan and the national side is one of the strongest member in World Cricket.
“The fans in Pakistan are passionate about the game and passionate about their team, but most importantly they are welcoming of visitors,” Allardice told Pakistan Cricket.
“I have always had great experiences when I have travelled to Pakistan and I have been to see a few series over the last few years and the welcome is always very warm.”
“Pakistan is one of the strongest cricketing countries in the World Cricket Governing Council membership,” Allardice said.
