The Big Bash League (Men’s version) has reached its 12th season with the 2022-23 season ongoing. It first started in 2011-12, replacing the old tournament in which state teams used to play. The current BBL tournament has eight city-based teams with Sydney and Melbourne combining for two teams each. Meanwhile, over the years, teams have played some memorable games that went down to the wire.
Not to forget, the ongoing season has seen some close games including the tournament opener. Meanwhile, there are a lot of games that have gone down to the last over or the last ball. BBL 2011-12 | Brisbane Heat vs Hobart Hurricanes
The Heat was having a terrible opening season of the tournament. They were placed at the bottom of the points table. On the other hand, the Hurricanes were topping the table coming into the game.
However, what turned out was something no one saw coming. Batting first, Brisbane had a great start with Matthew Hayden and Andrew Robinson putting together 100 runs in just 8.4 overs. Skipper Peter Forrest scored an unbeaten 33 to take the team to 201/4. In reply, the table toppers in that season looked like winning as they needed three runs in two balls. However, they lost two wickets and lost the game by two runs.
