‘Ye jyada der rukne nahi wale’ – KL Rahul removed as vice-captain of India
Despite a drought of runs over the last few months, star India opener KL Rahul is struggling in the longest format of the game since the Bangladesh series. He scored only 10 and 2 runs in the two Test matches and scored only 20 runs in the first Test against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, but still, he has been backed by the skipper Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid for the last two Tests.
The Indian Cricket Board announced the squad for the remaining two Border-Gavaskar Tests and ODI series against Australia. The Test squad for the last two matches is as same as the first two Tests which were announced by All-India Senior Selection Committee. However, after being retained in the squad, Rahul has been removed from the vice-captain position ahead of the third Test of the ongoing series between India and Australia.
It was clear from our side that we want him to go out and play his game: Rohit Sharma
Rahul made his comeback in the Test squad, but his failure with the bat continues in the longest format. He averages only 13 in the last five matches and has scored only 117 runs. He has not been able to surpass the score of 23 in the last 10 Test innings he has played. In the second match of the Australian series, he scored 17 runs and 1 run in the first and second innings, respectively.
The 30-year-old so far has scored 2642 runs in 47 Test matches for India. “It is not just about KL but anyone. It was clear from our side that we want him to go out and play his game. We are not going to look too much into what one individual is doing, it is about how everyone needs to come together,” Rohit told reporters
Earlier, when the team was announced for the first two BGT Tests, the star opener was announced as the vice-captain of the side, but for the last two Tests, there is no vice-captain. Earlier, due to a lack of runs, Indian veteran batter Ajinnkya Rahane was removed from the vice-captaincy.

Jadeja or Ashwin. But chances of jadeja becoming vice captain is high because he plays in overseas matches as well.

Selectors should decide next Vice Captain not Rohit Sharma. Selectors Rahul pe call le nhi sakte, Vice Captain decide nhi kr sakte toh Selection Committee hone ka kya logic hai. Team bhi Captain ko hi choice krne do phir.
