Kevin Pietersen urges fans to support team India after social media uproar

Former England batter Kevin Pietersen has urged the Indian fans to back the team in tough times. The Virat Kohli-led side suffered back to back defeats against Pakistan and New Zealand in the 20-20 World Cup after which a few emotional fans lost their cool and slammed the team on social media. Pietersen said that players are not robots and will have odd bad days, adding that the fans cannot be selective and need to back the team irrespective of the results.

“There is a winner and a loser in the game. No player goes out to lose. It is the greatest honour to represent your country. Please realize that the people in the game are not robots and they need support at all times,” tweeted Pietersen in Hindi.

Former Pakistan speedster Mohammad Amir also came to India’s rescue and said the Men in Blue are one of the best teams in the world and just had two bad days. He also slammed the fans who dragged the families of the players while mocking the team.

“I still believe India is the best team it’s just a matter of having a good time or bad time but abusing players and their family is such a shame don’t forget the end of the day it’s just a game of cricket,” Amir Tweeted.

India are tottering in the bottom half of the group but they are not technically out of the tournament. If they can win all their games and a few results go their way, they may well have an outside chance to qualify. However, the probabilities are very low for the same.
