‘Jab zarurat hoti hai, injured hojata hai’ – Fans react as Hardik Pandya set to miss remainder of ODI World Cup 2023
All-rounder Hardik Pandya of Team India will not be playing any longer for the team in the ODI World Cup 2023. On October 19, when playing Bangladesh in Pune, he suffered an ankle injury.
Hardik was given permission to go to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to receive additional care from experts. It was anticipated that he would be back in the running for the tournament’s latter phases. This involved having him for last league-stage matches in addition to the knockout stages.
The team management has chosen to replace Hardik with speedster Prasidh Krishna as the latter was unable to finish his recuperation in a timely manner. The personnel change in the squad was authorised on Saturday by the Event Technical Committee of the event. Prasidh Krishna will therefore be able to play in the Men in Blue’s starting lineup for their next match against South Africa.
Team India dropped another all-rounder Shardul Thakur in Hardik Pandya’s absence, and by playing specialists Mohammed Shami and Suryakumar Yadav, they jeopardised their batting depth.
Suryakumar is one of the batters who had to move down the lineup.. He comes to the creasse when the in-form top five has wreaked havoc. However fortunately, the shift has done well for the side.
In contrast, Shami has claimed 14 wickets across three games and formed a lethal partnership with Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah.
Prasidh Krishna : The right replacement for Hardik Pandya?
Similar to Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna too had a protracted injury layoff. He took part in both 2023 Asia Cup as well as the ODI series versus Australia ahead of the World Cup. Though, he made his comeback during the T20I series versus Ireland.
Against England in a home series in 2021, the lanky bowler earned his ODI debut. He looked excellent in that game as he finished with a four-fer. The fast bowler has an experience of 17 ODI matches thus far. He has taken 29 wickets at an economy rate of 5.61 and an average of 25.59.

I feel it's fair to call Prasidh Krishna in the squad because if you want to play another spinner then you already have Ashwin in the squad so it doesn't make sense to call Axar and Sundar. But do you think Thakur will get a game again?we should have called one batsman in place…
