Sydney Sixers’ all-rounder Dan Christian has made an interesting request to the fans ahead of the final against Perth Scorchers. The defending champions beat Adelaide Strikers by four wickets in a last-ball thriller in front of their home crowd. Batting first, Strikers posted 167/4, thanks to Ian Cockbain (48), Jonathan Wells (62*), and Matt Renshaw (36*). In reply, the Sixers were tottering at 101/4 at one stage, needing another 67 runs in 5.5 overs. Opener Hayden Kerr (98*) and Sean Abbott (41) helped their side chase down the target.

Meanwhile, Christian took to Twitter and has asked if anyone wants to play for his side in the final at the Docklands Stadium in Melbourne. He mentioned that his team is struggling to field 11 players and the participants will be awarded a beer. Notably, Sydney Sixers have been hit hard by COVID-19 and many of their players are unavailable for selection. However, Christian’s tweet is not meant to be taken seriously as it’s just a sarcastic post.

“Shout out to anyone* in Melbourne that wants a game of cricket tomorrow night. My team is struggling to get 11 covid free, fit players on the park. The warm-up starts at 6.30 pm at Marvel Stadium. Free beer afterwards, potentially out of a large cup. DM if keen *no test cricketers,” tweeted Christian.

Meanwhile, AB de Villiers also reverted to Christian’s post and offered to play a game for them. However, he was ready only on one condition.

Both teams Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers coincidentally played each other in the previous season finale where Sixers won by 27 runs and defended their title. Batting first, Sixers posted 188/6, thanks to James Vince (95). In reply, Scorchers were restricted to 161/9.
