Chennai to start practice in Surat ahead of Indian T20 League
Chennai did remarkable well in the mega auction and now have a solid squad going into Indian T20 League 2022. The team’s practice sessions will begin on March 8th, according to the latest information. The event is expected to kick off in the last week of March and Chennai want ample practice before they began their campaign. The team will go in as the defending champions.
The dates for the start of Indian T20 tournament have not yet been revealed. The BCCI, however, is expected to disclose the tournament schedule this week. The tournament will be played in Maharashtra and the playoffs are expected to be held in Ahmedabad owing to the COVID-19 situation. MCA Stadium in Pune, DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, Brebon Stadium and Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, and the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad are likely to host the tournament this year. The stadiums are not too far away from each other and can be covered by road.
Chennai was able to rebuy players like Ambati Rayudu, Dwayne Bravo, and Deepak Chahar among others. They also have some exciting new talent in Devon Conway and Maheesh Theeksana.
Their bowling department, however, has some major issues. The fast bowling lineup is not the best as they do not have a good death bowler to rely on. Deepak Chahar is a new ball bowler and usually bowls most of his overs in the powerplays. And, Adam Milne is not the best wicket-taking option in death either.
They are also heavily dependent on Ravindra Jadeja for spin. They do have Moeen Ali, but he is not sure of giving four overs in every match.
