IND vs SL: Big update on Ishan Kishan who was admitted to ICU after being hit on head
India and Sri Lanka wicketkeeper-batters Ishan Kishan and Dinesh Chandimal have been admitted to a hospital after sustaining injuries in the second T20I against Sri Lanka. Kishan sustained a head injury after being hit on the helmet while batting. On the other hand, Chandimal was hit on the thumb while fielding. Batting first, Sri Lanka posted 183/5 at the end of their innings.
They had a great start as the openers Pathum Nissanka and Danushka Gunathilaka added 67 runs in 8.4 overs. Other batters such as Charith Asalanka (2), Kamil Mishara (1), and Chandimal (9) failed to impress which meant the visitors were tottering at 103/5 after 15 overs. A half-century from Nissanka (75) and unbeaten 47 off 19 balls from skipper Dasun Shanaka meant the team added 80 runs in the last five overs.
In reply, the Men In Blue lost their skipper Rohit Sharma on the last ball of the first over. On the second ball of the fourth over, Kishan was hit on the helmet while playing a pull shot against Lahiru Kumara. Kumara removed the helmet of the left-hander immediately and the medical team from the Indian camp rushed to the pitch to check on the 23-year-old. After the game, Kishan and Chandimal were admitted to the hospital in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh.
The doctor, who is checking on both players, said that Kishan is under observation. “I have been attached to the Indian team and I got information that an Indian player, who has sustained a head injury, has been brought here in the hospital. His CT scan was conducted and he has been under observation,” said Dr Shubham.
“A Sri Lankan player has also been admitted in the hospital, after receiving a thumb injury in the second T20I. We are monitoring everything right now,” he added.
Meanwhile, as per recent reports, Kishan is doing well and there is nothing to be concerned about.
