Rajasthan’s newest recruit Yuzvendra Chahal has confirmed his jersey number ahead of the 2022 IndianT20 League. The leg-spinner was bagged by the franchise at a cost of INR 6.5 crore at the recently concluded Indian T20 League 2022 mega auction.
In a video shared by the franchise on social media platform, the backroom staff were seen thrilled to have Chahal on the team. The 31-year old cricketer also expressed his happiness to join the pink brigade. During the auction, the leg-spinner in a telephonic conversation with the management confirmed his jersey number.
Cannot wait to work with Kumar Sangakkara and my chintu brother Sanju: Chahal
In a video uploaded by RR on their social media handles, Chahal said he can’t wait to work with coach Kumar Sangakkara and skipper Sanju Samson. “Thank you Rajasthan family for showing faith in me and having me and can’t wait to work with Kumar Sangakkara, Sanju my chintu brother and admin, be careful. The 31-year old attracted several franchises including Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad during the mega auction. However, RR managed to pip the other franchises to buy the spinner at INR 6.5 crore.
At first, Chahal was with Mumbai for three seasons. However, the talented leg-spinner only warmed the benches for the franchise. In 2014, Bangalore purchased him and since then he has been their ace spinner. The 31-year old has picked 139 wickets in 114 matches, bowling at an economy rate of 7.59.
Talking about his white ball international career, Chahal has represented India in 115 matches including both T20Is and ODIs scalping a total of 172 wickets in the process. The leg-spinner made his international debut in 2016 and has been a regular feature for Indian side since then.
