‘A lot of challenges thrown at us…’ – Captain Rohit Sharma opens up about team environment following 4th Test match against England
In the 4th Test match of the 5-match series, India defeated England by five wickets. Post the match, Captain Rohit Sharma praised the young team who gave their best in dominating the experienced English side throughout the series. Moreover, Rohit mentioned the importance of having a good team environment instead of frequent advice sessions. As the youngsters have a good grasp of the game, as per the captain, they don’t need much advice on how to play the game.
“It’s been a very hard-fought series, so to come on the right side of it feels very good. A lot of challenges were thrown at us but we responded and were quite composed. These (youngsters) guys want to be here, growing up in the domestic circuit, local club cricket, and coming here. It’s a big challenge, but the responses I get are encouraging. We have to give them the environment they want to be in, we can’t just keep talking to them, they are very clear in what they want to do,” said Rohit.
India won the fourth Test match in Ranchi where the game seemed to be out of their hands. When India needed 192 runs to win the match, they lost five wickets in 120 runs. However, Shubman Gill’s half-century and Dhruv Jurel’s 32 runs saved the day and the match as well. This proves the quality of batters India has in their team.
‘He playing his second Test showed solid composure…’ – Rohit Sharma praised Dhruv Jurel for his brilliant performance
Captain Rohit Sharma was quite impressed with the young Dhruv Jurel and his composed batting. As the 4th Test match ended, the skipper praised Jurel for his brilliant batting performance in all four innings he has played until now.
