Usman Khawaja’s visa issue cleared
Recently, most of the Australia’s touring party’s visa were cleared early in January. Some of them landed in Bangalore to prepare for the series. Meanwhile, Khawaja’s visa was delayed due to some reasons. However, the Pakistan-born player decided to make a mockery of his situation. He posted a meme, inspired Netflix series “Narcos” where forlorn Colombian drug kingpin Pablo Escobar — played by actor Wagner Moura — sits alone on a swinging seat.
“Waiting for my Indian Visa,” Khawaja said on Instagram
India’s High Commissioner to Australia tweeted in response later that Khawaja’s visa had been “issued and collected from our Consulate General in Melbourne”.
“Let’s have a great #BorderGavaskarTrophy series!” Manpreet Vohra tweeted.
Meanwhile, even at this point, it is unknown on why the delay happened. Talking about the series, India will be the defending champions of the series. Since 2017, the World Number Two Test side has won the trophy thrice and have lost only one match each in all these series. On the other hand, the World Number One Test side, Australia is looking to win their first BGT since 2014-15, when they won at home.
