‘Ab Bangalore fans ko koi tang nahin karega’ – Twitter loses calm as former BBL champions, Sydney Thunders record lowest team total in T20s
In the fifth game of the ongoing Big Bash League 2022-23, two former champions, Sydney Thunders and Adelaide Strikers locked horns. The Blue Brigade, the Strikers, won the toss and decided to bat first. They had a poor start as they three wickets inside the powerplay. However, the likes of Chris Lynn and former New Zealand international, Colin de Grandhomme stitched a partnership of 66 runs.
However, after their partnership was broken, the 2017-18 winners lost their way and were reduced to 139/9. For the 2015-16 winners, Thunders, Afghanistan international, Fazalhaq Farooqi took three wickets while Gurinder Sandhu, Daniel Sams, and Brendan Doggett took two each. In reply, what turned out wasn’t imagined by either of the teams. The Strikers needed to pick wickets in the powerplay to remain in the game. However, they took all 10 wickets in 5.5 overs, limiting the opposition to 15 runs. This is now the lowest team total across in T20 cricket and all formats.
Honestly can’t believe what just happened: Henry Thornton
“I honestly cannot believe what just happened. I think everyone here probably doesn’t know what is going on either. It was amazing. We thought they bowled really, really well considering what the wicket was doing. And we just thought if we hung in there long enough we’d create chances. That’s unbelievable. I’ve never had that happen in my life to be honest. It’s amazing.
“We just thought if we bowled top of the stumps, and we were really clear on what we wanted to execute, we’d be in the game. We got a lot of nick offs. Harry took five catches and Shorty, that was one of the best catches I’ve ever seen at first slip. We’re really happy. I’m really happy for Wes. He bowled really well tonight, super disciplined. Great performance. I feel like I need to retire now. I don’t think I’m getting better than that (laughs),” Henry Thortons said after the game.

Sydney Thunder bowled out for 15. The lowest total in all men's T20 cricket.
Previous lowest was 21 all-out by Turkey against Czech Republic in 2019.#BBL12
