Abdullah Shafique talks about star India bowler ahead of Asia Cup 2023
The 16th edition of the Asia Cup is scheduled to kick start on August 30. The first match of the tournament is set to be played between Pakistan and Nepal in Multan, Pakistan. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently announced a 15-member squad for the 2023 edition of the Asia Cup. The last edition of the Asia Cup was won by Sri Lanka, which was played in the United Arab Emirates.
India will lock horns with Pakistan in their opening fixture on September 2 in Kandy, Sri Lanka. It is a possibility that the two teams will face each other two times more in the tournament, once in Super 4 and once in the final. Star India pacer, Jasprit Bumrah has recovered from his back injury and is set to make his comeback ahead of the Asia Cup 2023.
Our bowling attack is pretty good, in fact, the best in the world: Abdullah Shafique
The inclusion of Bumrah in the Indian squad’s bowling line-up will bowl along with Mohammad Shami and Mohammad Siraj. For the star Pakistan batter, Abdullah Shafique talked about the upcoming Asia Cup encounter against India and said that he is prepared to face Bumrah since he bats against Pakistan bowlers like Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah in the nets.
The right-hand opener was asked about whether Bumrah’s inclusion is a worry for them or not. “You face Haris, Naseem, and Shaheen in the nets all the time during practice sessions. Do you find it easy when you take on the opposition bowlers then? Particularly if you talk about India… since it looks like Jasprit Bumrah is also coming back for Asia Cup,” a reporter asked Shafique during a media interaction.
“Our bowling attack is pretty good, in fact, the best in the world. We face them (Shaheen, Haris, Naseem) in the nets… we face their challenging spells. And that gives us a lot of confidence and helps in our preparation. If we are playing good against them, we are obviously more confident against opponent bowlers,” said the Pakistan youngster,” the Pakistan batter replied to the reporter’s question.
