‘Abey ye Siraj hai Amir nhi’ – Fans react as star India pacer reveals a driver approached him get inside news of his team
Veteran Indian seamer, Mohammed Siraj has reported a “corrupt approach” from an individual who sought inside knowledge after losing a lot of money betting to the Indian Cricket Board’s Anti Corruption Unit (ACU). Just before the start of the Indian Premier (IPL) 2023, Siraj was contacted during the ODI series between India and Australia. He immediately alerted ACU officials to the situation.
Since Sreesanth, Ankit Chavan, and Ajit Chandila, along with former CSK team director Gurunath Meiyappan, were imprisoned on spot-fixing accusations, the Indian Cricket Board has boosted its ACU activities. Each squad has a specialized ACU officer attached to it who resides in the same accommodation and is present on the spot to supervise all activities.

“Siraj reported the approach immediately. The law enforcement authorities have nabbed the man. More details are being awaited. It wasn’t a bookie who approached Siraj. It is a driver from Hyderabad who is addicted to betting on matches. He had lost huge money and approached Siraj for inside information,” an Indian Cricket Board source close to Mohammed Siraj was quoted as saying.
Players are required to attend a mandatory ACU session on the dos and don’ts before the competition. If any player chooses not to reveal such a dishonest tactic, there are harsh consequences in place. The Bangladeshi team’s captain, Shakib Al Hasan, was banned in 2021 for failing to reveal a dishonest IPL plan.
The Chennai Super Kings vs. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) game in the current IPL 2023 broke all previous records with 2.4 lakh active views. Notably, Jio Cinema’s free streaming of the IPL 2023 for all Indian fans broke the previous record for the most views. The platform has the most installed apps ever, according to data. Siraj is now the RCB‘s leading wicket-taker with eight, and he will be attempting to increase that number.
