‘Adab se harayenge’ – Fans react as Lucknow Super Giants defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 5 wickets in Indian Premier League 2023
After losing the last match by 12 runs against four times champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) locked horns against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, in Lucknow on Friday, April 7. The Super Giants won the match by five wickets and Krunal Pandya was awarded the Player of the Match award for his contribution with both bat and ball.
If we talk about the fixture, the SRH skipper Aiden Markram won the toss and opted to bat first. While batting first the Hyderabad franchise was able to score only 121 runs for the loss of eight wickets after the completion of the first innings. The highest run-scorer for the side was Rahul Tripathi, who scored 35 runs off 41 balls with four fours. The debutant, Anmolpreet Singh also scored 31 runs from 26 balls with three fours and a six. The batter from Jammu and Kashmir, Abdul Samad played a quickfire knock of 21 runs from just 10 balls which included one four and two sixes.
KL Rahul and Krunal Pandya guide Lucknow Super Giants to victory
For the LSG, the pick of the bowler was Pandya, who snapped three wickets in his spell of four overs where he conceded just 18 runs in his spell. Two wickets were grabbed by India’s veteran leg-spinner Amit Mishra in his spell of four overs where he gave away only 23 runs in his spell. One wicket each was taken by Yash Thakur and Ravi Bishnoi where they conceded 24 runs and 16 runs respectively in their spells.
The Super Giants chased down the target in the 16th over. Pandya played a knock of 34 runs off 23 balls with four fours and a six. The LSG skipper KL Rahul scored 35 runs off 31 balls with four boundaries. For the SRH, Adil Rashid took two wickets and one wicket each was taken Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Fazalhaq Farooqi and Umran Malik.
