Amit Mishra stands in support of Umran Malik after his off-day against Chennai
Indian T20 League 2022 has already given the fans glimpses of some of the prospects of Indian cricket. One such name in the list is that of the express pacer from Jammu Kashmir, Umran Malik. Malik has been clocking 150 kmph regularly in the tournament and is striking fear among the batters.
Under the guidance of Hyderabad’s bowling coach Dale Steyn, Malik has found control in his bowling. With the newfound control added to his bowling along with his sheer pace, Malik has become even more lethal.
Mailk’s beginning to the tournament was quite ordinary as he picked up just 3 wickets in the first four matches. However, he made a strong statement in the next four matches picking up 12 wickets. While he was looking in great form, the last outing for him against Chennai did not go according to his expectations.
In the 46th match against the Men in Yellow, Malik completed his full quota of four overs. He conceded 48 runs in those overs and failed to pick up a wicket. This was a break from the string of excellent performances he was putting forward.
It might be disheartening for any performer who was slaughtered like Malik was in the match. Especially for someone young and inexperienced like Malik, it can affect his mind and future performance. Many fans and experts have stood for Malik and called the bad performance on his part a one-off. One such expert is the former Indian leggie and ITL legend Amit Mishra.
Amit Mishra took to Twitter after the match’s first innings and took a stand for Umran Malik. He Tweeted- “Dear #UmranMalik don’t lose your heart, even the best of the game have an off day. That doesn’t mean you are not a terrific bowler and could be a great asset for Indian team.”
