Virat Kohli just enjoyed a great Asia Cup campaign for India. In five matches, he smashed 276 runs at an average of 92. After a gap of 1021 days, Kohli also managed to score his 71st international ton in the tournament. However, it all went in vain as India failed to qualify for the final this time around.

Meanwhile, former Paksitani player, Shahid Afridi opened up on Kohli and his retirement plans. He said that Virat should retire from the game being at the peak of his form. However, in response to that, the former Indian spinner trolled Afridi by sharing a tweet.

Here is the shared tweet:

Shahid Afridi retired from International Cricket a few times before his final retirement in 2017

Speaking to Samaa TV, Shahid Afridi said: “The way Virat has played, the start that he had to his career, there was a struggle initially before he made a name for himself. He is a champion and I believe there comes a stage when you are headed towards retirement. But in that scenario, the aim should be to go out on a high.”

He also added that wherever Kohli will retire, he will do it in some style. “It shouldn’t reach a stage where you are dropped from the team and instead when you are at your peak. It seldom happens though. Very few players, especially cricketers from Asia Cup make that decision, but I feel when Virat does it, he will do it style and probably in the same manner in which he started his career.” Shahid Afridi concluded.

In response to that, Amit Mishra wrote: “Dear Afridi, some people retire only once so please spare Virat Kohli from all this.” Former Indian spinner took a dig on Afridi as he took several retirements before his final retirement in 2017. Fans also loved it as they started to repost that tweet instantly. Speaking about Kohli, he will be in action again when India will kick off their three-match T20I series against Australia on home soil on 20 September 2022.
