In a lead up to the Lucknow vs Kolkata at the MCA Stadium in Pune on May 7, Lucknow franchise has unveiled a different jersey for their players. The players will wear a jersey with their mother’s on the back in the game against Kolkata. Notably, international mother’s day this year will be celebrated on May 8. There is no specific date for Mother’s day. In fact, it is celebrated on the first Sunday of May month every year.

It is the day where people honor mother, motherhood and the maternal bonds. Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time in the game when players are wearing a jersey with their mother’s names. In an ODI between India and New Zealand in Vizag in 2016, the home team wore the kits on which their mother’s names were etched.

Talking about the game, the game will be played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune. Both teams are coming off wins in their last respective last games. The Men In Purple and Gold won against Rajasthan while the Indian T20 League debutants defeated Delhi last weekend. They are comfortably sitting on the second spot in the points table with 14 points in 10 games.

If they manage to win their next game, they would be assured of their place in the playoffs. On the other hand, the two-time winners are languishing on the eighth spot with as many points. As they have lost six games, they need to win every game to keep their playoffs hopes alive. One loss could possibly eliminate them from the race. If that happens, they will become the third team after Mumbai and Chennai to be eliminated from the top four race with few games left in the tournament.

Notably, these three teams are the top three most successful teams in the league. Mumbai has five titles while Chennai and Kolkata have won four and two titles respectively. It will be interesting to see if the the Shreyas Iyer-led side comes up triumphant or not.
