The much-awaited 16th edition of the Indian T20 league kicked off after an amazing opening ceremony which entertained the crowd and viewers a lot. The bio-bubble might have burst, but the league only continues to grow as this season features a return to the home-away format, along with new rules and some new players. The government put many restrictions which affected the tournament’s popularity.
As all the restrictions are now lifted, the stadiums will have a full-packed crowd. However, there is another entertaining element included in this year’s cash-rich league as the cheerleaders are back to entertain the crowd. Almost 1 lakh people gathered at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday, March 31.
It is the same venue where India and Australia played the final Test match of the four-match Test series in the presence of their respective Prime Ministers not so long ago. Both teams have plenty of all-rounders as Chennai is having the likes of Moeen Ali, Ben Stokes, and Ravindra Jadeja in their squad.

In this season, the Impact Player rule will also be applicable in the tournament in which the captains of the teams can make changes in their playing XI even after the toss. Till now, before the toss, the captain had to hand over the names of his playing XI players to the match referee, but now this will not happen. At the time of the toss, the captains of both teams will bring two lists each.
In addition to the playing XI in the team sheet, five players will be kept as substitutes. Any one of them can be replaced by another player in the middle of the match. At the same time, this rule will apply to foreign players only when there are fewer than 4 foreign players in the playing XI already.
Meanwhile, during the toss, Gujarat’s skipper Hardik Pandya talked about the Chennai-based franchise captain MS Dhoni and said, “New start, new season, quite exciting. Almost everyone in the country has got motivation from him (Dhoni). Been a fan and admirer of him.”
