‘Are ye to Pelai ho rahi hai’ – Twitter praises Suryakumar Yadav as he hits his second T20I hundred
In the ongoing second T20I between New Zealand and India, Suryakumar Yadav has hit his second T20I hundred. He hit his maiden T20I hundred on the tour of England in July this year. Both hundreds came while batting in the middle order. Not to forget, in the recently-concluded 20-20 World Cup 2022, he was the third-highest run-getter. The right-hander continued his form in the ongoing game.
He came out to bat after Rishabh Pant got out in the last over of the powerplay. Yadav was looking good after scoring 49 off 31 balls with the team scoring 119/3 in 15 overs. In the last four overs, he scored 62 runs to get to his second century in the shorter format. His innings would have helped the team cross the 200-run mark. However, Tim Southee’s hat trick made sure India could only get to 191/6. Despite this, the score is competitive enough.
Hardik Pandya told me to bat till the end: Suryakumar Yadav
After the first innings, the Mumbaikar spoke about his innings. He started by saying that a T20I hundred is hard to come by. The 32-year-old revealed that stand-in skipper Hardik Pandya told him to stay at the crease till the end. The former further added that the score is enough for the team to win.
“In T20 cricket a hundred was really special, but it was also important for me to bat till the end, Hardik told me. We needed a score of 190-195 and happy we got there. We had a word in the 16th over that we wanted to take it deep with only Hooda and Washington to follow. I’ve been doing the same thing in the nets and all practice sessions. We can also hear Rishabh Pant say “unbelievable” in Suryakumar’s ear after he finishes that interview. We are all Rishabh Pant. Himanshu will bring the chase to you,” Suryakumar Yadav said in the mid-game.
